Introduction

Çankırı Karatekin University Faculty of Science Department of Statistics consists of scientific staff of 7 people, including 1 Associate Professor, 3 Assistant Professor, 1 lecturer, and 3 research assistants.

Statistics is an interdisciplinary science that is constantly developing with research and new methods and can be applied to any scientific field. Today, statistical methods are used in every research area where numerical information can be collected. Statistics are used in all branches of science such as biology, sociology, psychology, economics, business, medicine, technology, business, and market research. With their researcher identities, statisticians bring healthy expansions to many areas of the country such as finance, health, economy, agriculture, education, and they also make important contributions to the solution of social problems. With the accession process of our country to the European Union, the use of statistics will undoubtedly increase, the statistics profession will be a more popular and popular profession. The academic staff and the curriculum of our department are designed to contribute to these fields, and it is aimed that the statisticians to be trained will provide information production in the fields of science and technology and receive training to process and draw conclusions with the obtained statistics. Nowadays, the need for up-to-date and reliable information is increasing. Therefore, the need for statistical information on the economy and culture of a society is increasing rapidly. In addition to this increasing need, gathering information in a healthy way, summarizing, providing, evaluating, and interpreting forward-looking information is very important. Today, the expression and interpretation of almost everything with numbers concern us all. Here, the fact that statistics is a very basic tool in improving quality and efficiency. The Department of Statistics aims to educate the participants who will gather the information about the subjects that are required to be clarified correctly and will apply the existing statistical methods skillfully. In addition to providing basic theoretical and practical knowledge to students, modern computer labs are provided with multi-purpose package programs and post-university life orientation and practice. Graduates are preferably employed in research and planning, measurement and evaluation, business management, production, planning, project management, decision-making units, stock exchange, and banks in all private and public sectors.
