During the Week of Persons with Disabilities, which is celebrated every year from May 10 to 16 in 156 member countries of the United Nations, our department`s faculty members have achieved notable success.
Aimed at raising awareness for individuals with special needs, supporting them in education and independent living, facilitating their integration into society, and promoting the dissemination of scientific practices among service providers and individuals with special needs, the 3rd Call for the TÜBİTAK 4008 Support Program for Inclusive Society Practices for Individuals with Special Needs has approved support for 80 projects.
One of the supported projects is “Learning with Nature”, led by Prof. Dr. Seçil Akıllı Şimşek from the Biology Department of our university’s Faculty of Science.
Throughout the project, collaborations with various institutions have been established. Faculty members from our department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuba Koç and Dr. Pelin Akın, will also actively participate in the project through the activities they will conduct.
As part of the project, a series of training activities will be carried out in the September 2025 term for middle and high school students with special needs studying at Çankırı Martyr Ömer Faruk Biçer Vocational Special Education School.
